Roskill Community Trust

Our Trust carries a big vision for our local neighbourhood of Mt Roskill South and for the wider community of Puketapapa/Mt Roskill. We are the community ministry arm of Mt Roskill Baptist Church.

Our Vision

TO BE A COMMUNITY CENTRE OF GOD’S LOVE FOR OUR LOCAL NEIGHBOURHOOD

Building on our church vision as a ‘Family of Nations’, we seek to connect with people from all nations. We celebrate the diversity within Puketāpapa/Mt Roskill. It is one of the most diverse suburbs in Tamaki Makaurau/Auckland with the incredible array of ethnicities, cultures, and languages!

We aim to create a sense of belonging as we provide multiple community ministries that reflect this vision.

Our Purpose

TO SHARE GOD’S LOVE AS WE SERVE PEOPLE IN OUR LOCAL NEIGHBOURHOOD

As ‘Followers of Jesus,’ we have experienced God’s unconditional love first-hand. This love has made a huge difference in our lives. His sacrificial love, seen in Jesus, motivates us to share this same selfless love with others, so that we all may experience life as God intended it.

Our community ministries offer practical help to support and strengthen every person with the caring love and precious hope that we have found in Jesus Christ.

Our Mission

TO REACH OUT AND SHARE THE GOOD NEWS OF GOD’S LOVE WITH PEOPLE WHERE THEY ARE AT IN PRACTICAL WAYS

Our Community Ministries have been serving our local neighbourhood for many years. We run several activities each week that connect with the practical needs of the people who attend. These include:

  • our Kindergarten (Mount Roskill Baptist Kindergarten), where we support families by providing quality, affordable, Christian preschool education using an Early Childhood Education approved curriculum within a loving and peaceful Christian setting - we experience the ‘family of nations’ every day,

  • our ‘New 2 U’ Op Shop, where we offer good quality clothing and small household items at affordable prices to everyone,

  • our Friendship Group, where we meet one another within a safe, caring setting for anyone – many who attend are over 65yrs of age but all are welcome, and

  • our ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) school, where we help international people to learn English for living in New Zealand – levels of learning range from beginners to intermediate skill-level

Further information on any of these community ministries can be found by clicking on the ‘Activities’ tab on the home page.
