Family of nations; followers of Jesus

Roskill Baptist Church is made up of people who come from all sorts of different backgrounds, ages and ethnicities. We are a church family who are keen to be a part of seeing God's Kingdom come in our own lives, and in our community, united in our love for Jesus and doing our best to follow him.

We meet for worship on Sunday mornings at 10am in a service that’s friendly and contemporary, featuring Bible-based teaching and a great kids’ programme. We strongly encourage our people to join Life Groups  as a way of “doing life” together in mutual love and support.

We serve our community through the Mt Roskill Community Trust and our community ministries such as our kindergarten, op shop, ESOL classes and Friendship Group.

As well as all of that, we're also a part of the Baptist Union of New Zealand. You can find out more about that here.

Our history

Roskill Baptist Church was planted in 1923 by a man named Enoch Wood, who saw some children playing on the street and felt called to reach them with the gospel. The “White Swan Sunday School” he started for those kids grew into our church. The first Church building opened on Saturday 21st June 1924 and the first evening service had a congregation of 80.

Ever since then Roskill Baptist has been fuelled by a desire to join with God in his mission, as well as to grow deeper in our relationships with Him, and each other.
